ASSEMBLY OF THE TERENA INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN LEONARDO MILANo'S PHOTOS

Between May 8 and 11, indigenous leaders gathered in Ipegue Village, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. In an act of resistance against the attacks on indigenous peoples promoted by the government of Jair Bolsonaro, the XIII Terena Assembly brought together chiefs, leaders, women, young people and elders from different ethnic groups. Besides the Terena people, the Guarani-Kaiowá, Guató, Kaigang, Kinikinau, Guajajara, Kadiwéu, Xakriabá and Xukuru participated.

The photographer Leonardo Milano, who has been documenting the struggle of the indigenous peoples over the country for some time, was present at the Assembly of the Terena People. Check out the photos.
